Tami Axtell

Children's Administrator

Tell us about yourself:

I am a native southern Californian and I have lived in the San Diego area for 15 years. My husband Ben and I are blessed to have two children. When I’m not fulfilling my duties as a parent, I enjoy gardening, cooking, reading, spending time with friends, and learning anything new that comes my way! I found out how much I loved the kids of this church when I began volunteering in the Nursery on Sundays when my daughter was an infant. I learned that there was so much I could do to contribute to God’s kingdom by working with kids. Previous to taking on my role here at NCPC, I spent over 15 years in professional marketing communications roles in both the non-profit and business arena including the travel industry and staffing industry. I hold a Bachelors degree in Journalism/Public Relations. I have a fierce love for organizing words and am currently enrolled in a UCSD certificate program for copyediting.

What do you do as Director of Children’s Ministry?

I work part-time managing most administrative duties associated with children’s ministry and also oversee volunteer scheduling and plan many of our events. In other words, I keep us organized! In addition, I take care of our preschool area, ensuring that lessons and activities are ready for our littlest ones on Sundays. God is in the lead in children’s ministry and we look above for his guidance in every step we take.

What is your favorite movie quote?

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? We were born to manifest the glory of God that is within us. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.”  From Akeelah and The Bee, 2006

What do you order at Starbucks?

Low-Fat Soy Chai Tea Latte. Now, this is a rare occurrence!

What food do you absolutely love? What food do you hate?
