NCPC Student Ministry Update Summer 2012: Camps and a few dates

Hey parents and friends of NCPC Student Ministries!

Summer is here! So is camp! Here are some upcoming dates and details. We will release the rest of our summer calendar in the next few weeks.

Jr High Summer Camp
We are headed to Ponderosa Pines Christian Camp for Jr High (next years 7th & 8th grade students) July 30-August 3. Pondo is a wonderful camp with a stellar reputation located west of Big Bear. We leave Monday morning and return Friday afternoon. The cost will be $340, which covers camp (program, housing, meals), counselors and transportation. Register now with a deposit of $50 (checks payable to NCPC with your students name and Pondo 2012 in the memo). All monies and forms due by Sunday July 29. We will be showing some promo videos to students in the Dome which can be found at www.pondo.org. Spots are limited - get your deposit in today!

Sr High Summer Camp
For High School we are headed to Hume Lake yet again! August 12-18, we leave Sunday morning and return Saturday night. The cost will be $550 (down $20 from last year!), which covers camp, counselors and transportation. Register with a deposit of $100 (checks payable to NCPC with your students name and Hume 2012 in the memo). All monies and forms due by Thursday August 9. Spots are limited - get your deposit in today!

Padres Game - Saturday, June 2 - 4:15pm - we are headed to our annual Padres game! This is a fundraiser with proceeds going to help students go to camp. It is free replica jersey night at Petco - so you get a free shirt! Meet at Petco - you are responsible for your own transportation. Cost is $26.00, sitting in the lower left field seats. Tickets on sale at NCPC on Sunday May 20 & 27, and we will get the tickets to you the week of the game.

High School Graduate Dinner - Thursday, June 7, 6pm at Brett's BBQ in Encinitas. Bring your family out as we celebrate the high school graduates from NCPC. Order food on your own, then we will take a few minutes to honor our grads. Family/friends welcome.

Grad Sunday - June 10 during the Family Service - We will recognize all graduates from 6th grade, 12th grade and college the morning of June 10 during the main service. If you have a student that you would like to see recognized, please email students@ncpcfamily.org

Car Wash - June 10 after family service - Get your car washed, help send kids to camp. The proceeds from this student run car-wash go directly to sending students to camp. Each student working get $$$ off their camp bill! Tickets for pre-purchased

Switchfoot Bro-Am - Saturday June 16, 12pm-5 - Every year, Switchfoot hosts a Surf-competition/fundraiser/concert festival at Moonlight Beach. And its FREE! Funds raised benefit Stand Up for Kids. Over 10,000 people attend annually. Concerts start at 12pm, Switchfoot plays around 3pm. Its a really fun day - great music, great food, and tons of vendors selling cool stuff. Everyone is invited - join The Dome as we hang out with 10,000 of our closest friends! More info at switchfoot.com

Promotion Sunday - Sunday June 17 - We will be promoting the 6th graders to 7th and the 8th graders to high school on this day. FYI.

February 2012 Student Ministry Update

Hi parents and friends of NCPC Student Ministries.

In case you hadn't heard, I'm getting married in nine days! While this is very exciting news (more info at kacieandmike.com), I also wanted to give you a brief update of what our schedule will look like the next few weeks.

Worship Night & Potluck Dinner - Thursday 2/16 - In order to start the wedding weekend off right, we decided to invite all the Jr & Sr High students and their families to join our extended family and friends in a night of worship and prayer. At 5:30pm we will have a potluck dinner, and at 6:30 we will begin singing and praying that God would bless the weekend, and our marriage. If you play an instrument, bring it! At 8:00 we will head to Moonlight Beach for a bonfire to cap the night off. No RSVP needed - feel free to invite friends - the more the better!

Jr/Sr High combined Thursday 2/23 - Jr and Sr High will meet together this night. 6:30-8pm in the Dome. Mike Ehl and Naomi Klockmann will be leading.

Jr High Moving to Tuesday nights - Beginning on February 28, Jr High will begin meeting on Tuesday nights from 6-7:30pm. Also, next year's incoming 7th graders (currently 6th grade students) are invited to join us for Tuesday night youth group beginning 2/28, and lasting until their promotion in June.

Because there is a lot of inconsistency, here is Jr High Schedule:

Thursday 2/16 - Worship Night/Potluck - families invited
Thursday 2/23 - Combined with Sr High, 6:30-8
Tuesday 2/28 - 6-7:30
Tuesday 3/6 - 6-7:30
Thursday 3/15 - Film Festival - 6:00-8:00pm

2nd AnnualShort Film Festival - March 15, 6:00-8:00pm - Families please join us at the 2nd Annual Student Ministry Film Festival, nicknamed "The Golden Barbies". Last year we had four student entries. These films are written, directed, acted, shot and edited entirely by students. Students - get to work! It should be a really fun night!

Unveiling Conference
For all HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS, North Coast Calvary is hosting a second-annual two-day conference called "Unveiling". Last year was a powerful call and encouragement to our young ladies. This year, Rachel Closs will be one of the featured speakers, and Kelsey Crowe and Suzanne Johnson will be helping to host/emcee the weekend! August Student Ministry Update

Greetings all!

August is a busy month and we made a few changes to our schedule. Check it out!

Jr High Swim & Studies - our Jr High midweek meets on Wednesdays from 6-8pm. We eat pizza, have fun in the pool, and do a Bible study which correlates with what we're learning on Sunday mornings. Bring a few bucks to help cover costs! Our upcoming locations are:
August 3 - Theodore's! 7839 Sitio Coco, Carlsbad
August 10 - No group (Talent Nite on Thursday - more info to follow)
August 17 - Krechters Community Pool - located near the 200 block of Via Cantebria, Encinitas (the driveway is the first right North of Via Molena on Via Cantebria)
August 24 - No group (meeting at Moonlight Beach for BBQ/Baptisms on Thursday August 25)

Sr High Swim & Studies - much the same as Jr High, but we meet Thursdays (6-8pm). And we're a bit older. Bring a few bucks to help cover costs! Our upcoming locations are:

August 11 - NCPC's Got Talent - come to NCPC for our very own talent night. Dance, sing, and perform your way into the hearts of millions (or dozens). Also,bring $$$ to buy refreshments as some will bake some goodies with their Blessed to Invest bucks. 7-8:30pm - everyone's invited!

August 19 - 007 Night - at NCPC - 7-10pm - Jr & Sr High - Our 3rd annual 007 Night - who will be crowned the best secret operative? Come dressed in all black as we search and find the satellites hidden all over church. Invite your friends! Best night of the year! Winner gets $50!

Summer Wrap-up BBQ and Beach Baptism - August 25, 5:30-8pm, Moonlight Beach - Jr/Sr High and families invited. Hot dogs served at 5:30, baptisms at 6:30, s'mores at 7 - boys bring drinks, girls bring snacks - families welcome - please RSVP to mike@ncpcfamily.org if more than just your student is coming. If your student has never been baptized and is interested, please let us know. Our pastor Doug Swagerty will be out in the water with Mike, Mike and all the other youth leaders. This is a great night of celebration - don't miss out!

Sabbath Week - August 31/September 1 - no youth group during the mid-week as we recover from summer and get ready for Fall!

During the first week of September we will begin meeting at the Dome for Youth Group on Wednesday and Thursday nights.

Hello Families!

Summer is here in full effect - I just body-surfed for the first time this summer - the water is finally warm!

We're gearing up for Hume Lake with 31 High School students - please pray that the Holy Spirit would move this week in powerful ways!

Below is all the info you'll need for much of the rest of the summer!

Jr High Trip to Ventura - August 4-6 (Thursday-Saturday) $175 - we'll be gone for three days and two nights staying in lovely Ventura. Join us for an awesome trip where we go hiking, bowling and play recreation games; go to the beach, have a bonfire and hang out at an awesome pool/waterpark; study God's Word and meet new friends! Parents, if you are interested, you are welcome to join us - we will send out more info when we get back next week - it's going to be awesome!

Student Ministry May Update

Hey family and friends of students at NCPC!

Summer is upon us and it is time to graduate seniors and promote 7th grade students! Below are some upcoming dates and ways to get involved. Check it out!

June 4th - NCPC Padres Game/Summer Camp Fundraiser - Beginning May 22, we will be selling tickets to the Padres game for Saturday June 4th. The game starts at 5:30pm, and they're giving away "Padre Lawn Gnomes!" (whatever that means!) Tickets are $21 and proceeds will help send our Jr/Sr High students to camp. Invite your friends or bring your whole family! Sign up after service on the patio May 22 & 29.

June 9th - Senior Dinner @ Brett's BBQ in Encinitas - Meet us at Brett's BBQ in Encinitas to honor the graduating Seniors from the class of 2011. We will meet at 6pm and order food (everyone orders/pays individually or by family). While enjoying a meal together we will take some time to honor the grads. Junior and senior high students are welcome to come - and families are welcome to join us as well, especially the families of the graduates.

June 12th - Grad Sunday - We will be honoring our graduating students during the main service on June 12th. Be there!

June 16th - No Youth Group this week. Celebrate Graduations!

June 19th - Promotion Sunday/Father's Day - We will be bringing the new 7th grade students up into the Dome! Come help them feel welcome!

June 23rd - Summer Kickoff BBQ @ Moonlight Beach - every year we kickoff the summer with a BBQ @ Moonlight Beach. Join us from 6-8pm for weenie roast, smores, games and more. Boys bring drinks, girls bring snacks. Bring your whole family!

July 10-16 - Hume Lake Sr. High Summer Camp! Hume is the best of the best - and make sure if you're in high school that you join us! Turn in your deposit of $100 ASAP (refundable until June 26) to reserve your spot!

More info is soon to follow. Please join me in praying for the successful transition for our new 7th grade students, the huge steps our grads are making, and all our summer camps and plans. Thanks for your support!

Student Ministry February Update

Hello Friends and Family of NCPC Student Ministries,

Happy New Year! It's been a while since I've written to you, but I hope your year is as blessed as mine. Check out the below for upcoming opportunities for you and your student.

LA Day Away, Saturday March 19
There is a vast, unconquered wilderness just north of us referred to by locals as "The LA Basin". Los Angeles calls - go North young man! We're going to spend a long in LA on Saturday March 19th. We'll meet at church at 8:30am and enjoy LA for a long day, returning around 9pm. Included will be touring with Kelsey Crowe and a visit to the Getty museum, with more details to follow. The cost will minimal. We need parent drivers for this trip! Please let me know if you can spend the day with us as we visit the City of Angels.

Hume Lake Dates Announced, July 10-16
Hume's Registration process changed and so did the week we will be attending. High School Summer camp will be July 10-16, 2011. We hope this earlier date will better accomodate Fall Cheerleaders/Athletes. We need a few brave parent drivers! We are trying to cut costs by about $60/student by not chartering a bus this year. If you have the ability to drive your own vehicle or a rented van on either the way up or down, please contact me. Final cost for Hume should be $520 - $540. We have 30 spots for high school students (classes 2011-15), so register as soon as you are able.

Hume Lake Summer Dates Announced

What are you doing this summer?

If you're in the class of 2011-15, the correct answer is "attending Hume Lake summer camp where my life will be changed by the splendor of the Sequoias, incredibly worship, Spirit-filled teaching and radical fun times."

Join NCPC as we seek His face at Hume Lake July 10-16. Radical.

Spots are limited to 30 students this year! Reserve yours with a $100 deposit (refundable before June 26 - makes checks payable to NCPC with "Hume Lake: student name" on the memo).

More details, final cost (estimated at 540), scholarship applications and fundraising opportunity info to follow.

Keep Calm and Carry On

a friend had this poster in his office and i thought it was cool. but i didn’t know what it was or why.

story goes the british ministry of information printed a million or so copies of this poster during wwii in preparation for the imminent german invasion. the poster would help the people remain steadfast and offer hope that they would pull through.

germany never invaded. the posters were mostly destroyed. the story forgotten. in 2000, a stack of these posters was found and the story brought to light.

i love the image, and the propaganda-ness of it. of course this was a wwii ministry of information poster. what else could it be?

more so, i love the crown at the top. the king is still on his throne.

i’ve used this image as the theme for the series we’re preaching on this fall in the Dome. we’re covering the upper room discourse, john 13-16, jesus’ parting words just hours before he is arrested.

it’s such a packed section: he tells them to love one another, to believe in God/Him, that He is the way/truth/life, that the Holy Spirit is coming, the whole abide section.

all of that to help them get through the worst three days of their life and their reconciliation after abandoning Jesus as the foundation for building the church.

its so easy to preach these theme to students! simple, timeless messages: believe. remain in Christ. trust the guidance of the Holy Spirit (who will show up in a few weeks). love each other. you have a future hope.

our King still reigns.
